Lumina Station Welcomes Spartina 449

Spartina 449 was founded in January 2009 on Daufuskie Island, South Carolina by husband and wife team, Kay Stanley and Curt Seymour. Spartina 449’s products are designed drawing inspiration from the history, culture and natural environment of the surrounding Sea Island Lowcountry.  Spartina 449’s products are carried in 11 of their own stores, and by more than 1,500 specialty boutiques and retail partners across the country.

Spartina 449 is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2019 with their newest collection, “Ten Tails.” This spring/summer collection features beautiful new apparel, such as dresses, tops, skorts, kaftans, scarf ponchos, and more. Plus, all of Spartina 449’s newest signature linen and leather handbags and accessories coordinate impeccably with the new apparel. You can mix and match effortlessly!

Probably one of the most defining features of Spartina’s new apparel is its wonderfully smooth, incredibly soft Peruvian cotton fabric. The blend is 95% Cotton and 5% Spandex, offering just the right amount of flattering stretch for any woman’s shape. Spartina’s apparel also features intricately embroidered necklines and hems, which add a touch of sophistication to each piece. Finally, Spartina’s newest apparel is machine washable and easy to maintain.

This season’s fresh jewelry pieces celebrate everything coastal, be it the underwater oysters that bestow mother-of-pearl shimmer, or the Carolina surf seafoam that bubbles ashore. To Spartina 449, living the good life means living the sea life, which is happily represented each time a piece of their coastal-inspired jewelry is worn.

Some of Spartina 449’s most popular products are its Greetings From illustrated, textured vinyl map accessories, which feature handbags, wallets, crossbodies, wristlets, scarves, beach towels, canvas bags and sparkling jewelry – all designed around a specific geographic area.  One of these mini-collections shows off the North Carolina coastline, and is called, “The Outer Banks,” and carries the following description of its unique design:

“Catch the closest ferry and get the inside scoop on North Carolina’s Outer Banks! This ribbon of skinny barrier islands lets loose with wild mustangs on Corolla, and flies ‘Wright’ at Kitty Hawk. With an air of maritime chic, you can scale the country’s tallest lighthouse in Hatteras, kayak in Pamlico Sound, shuck yourself silly on Currituck, and hunt for Blackbeard’s lost treasure on Ocracoke. History, mystery, sand and surf– the Outer Banks are simply outstanding!”

Spartina has loved every minute of its ten-year adventure and can’t wait to see what’s over the next wave. However, one thing is for certain, for Spartina 449’s unsinkable mermaid, no matter where she swims, her heart will always be harbored on Daufuskie Island, the special place she calls home.
