Holiday Hosting Tips from Lumina Station

It’s officially the holiday season, and here at Lumina Station we’re hanging our favorite decorations and getting ready for all of the festivities headed our way.

Chances are, you’re doing something similar at home in order to get ready for upcoming holiday gatherings and get-togethers with your family and friends. You may even be prepping for a few guests in honor of the special days we have marked on the calendar.

But if hosting fills you with more than a little stress, don’t let it edge out the fun of this season! Your shopping village by the sea has a few tips to help you with your duties and keep yourself from getting bogged down during the most wonderful time of the year.

Deck the halls

No one wants to be the neighbor that decorates too soon for any holiday, a trip to the décor experts at Paysage Home might just inspire any hosts out there to figure that item of business out toward the start of the season. Rather than waiting until you’re occupied with other aspects of planning for your guests – like cooking holiday treats or wrapping up another present – you could have all of your decorations squared away and displayed prominently. Plus, by getting those trimmings done at the start of the holiday season, you get to enjoy them longer!

Don’t skimp on the snacks

If you’ve ever sampled some of the delectable seasonal favorites at Brasserie Du Soleil, you already know the value in preparing ahead of time to pull off that fabulous dinner! It never hurts to stock up on all your guests’ favorite holiday eats ahead of time. We’re sure you know from experience just how quickly seasonal favorites can disappear from the shelves of your local grocery store or market, so for the things you know won’t spoil in your pantry or refrigerator, it pays to go ahead and buy them up. You’ll be less likely to run out of something while your guests are around, and that means fewer fruitless trips to the store when you should be relaxing and celebrating with your loved ones.

Make some time for you

In the rush to make sure everything is ready for your guests, and then after they’ve arrived and you’re actively engaged in making them comfortable, it’s easy to forget to look after yourself. But in order for you to fully enjoy the holiday season, it’s important that you make some time for you. Taking a breather every once in a while makes it easier to embrace those hosting duties when they do arise. May we suggest signing up for one of Axis Yoga + Studio’s many wonderful classes?

Hosting duties can seem daunting, but when you take it one step at a time and remember to enjoy the holidays and the company, the season just flies by! Stay tuned for more helpful hints and festive pointers from Lumina Station.
