Spring is in swing, and in southeastern North Carolina, we get to appreciate the outdoors just a bit more than others. In addition to the fun of the Azalea Festival, held earlier this month, our area is treated to a nice long period of warm weather, during which spring melts right into summer.
And with a few new design elements that we’ve included in the landscape, it’s easier than ever to spend the day here and enjoy the coastal community’s mild temperatures. Lumina Station has recently added cozy gas lighting and inviting fire pits for visitors to enjoy on those evenings that tend to hold onto a seasonal chill when the sun goes down. To make your trips between shops and other destinations a little easier, we’ve also put in easily-followed blue stone walkways to guide you through the Lumina Station experience. But what makes this marketplace your neighborhood destination for practical and leisurely pursuits are the new decks and seating areas, which are perfect for relaxing and people watching between stops. Our goal is to provide locals and vacationers with the ultimate introduction to our beachside community; what better way to do that than to make sure you have plenty of ways to experience the outdoors while here in our village getaway?
Many shops and restaurants at Lumina Station move displays to the outside of their spaces during these temperate seasons, so even without entering the space you’ll get a taste of what they have to offer! While this is in no way a complete list of all the businesses that make use of the additional room and soft spring breezes, check out a few of our visitors’ favorites.
Providing the area with quality fashion choices for women, surfers, and more for the family, Island Passage embraces the mild temperatures and laid-back vibes of Wilmington. If you pass by this shop’s display at its Lumina Station location on any given sunny spring day, you’re likely to find clothing, accessories, or even shoes to complete your wardrobe – and that’s before you even set foot inside!
The Gentlemen’s Corner
Have you ever seen something in a store and thought that you’d love the way it looked on you, only to find that it looks completely different when not under the concentrated bulbs or in front of the mirrors? At the Gentlemen’s Corner, some prime spring wear is typically displayed just outside the main shop, providing some perspective to those who are interested in finer menswear. One of four shops that share the name, Gentlemen’s Corner supplies top brands to all of Wilmington’s sharp-dressed men.
Port Land Grille
Known for its progressive American cuisine, this establishment boasts a casual yet refined atmosphere, accommodating dining areas with excellent views of the outdoors, and of course a well-kept and beautifully landscaped patio area. As part of its dedication to the giving and locally-minded values of Lumina Station as a whole, Port Land Grille only buys certain ingredients when in season and supports the farmers and fishers of coastal North Carolina.
Port City Java
Need a boost during your shopping spree, or maybe just an afternoon pick-me-up? Because Lumina Station is the type of village in which you can lose yourself to the variety of shops and stay a while, Port City Java offers a lovely spot to take a break. A Wilmington staple, this coffee shop provides tables and chairs so you can sit and watch the world go by to the tune of a carefully crafted cappuccino.
For more opportunities to enjoy the outdoor spaces and welcoming atmosphere of Lumina Station, come by for a visit! Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Wilmington, ours is a village in which you can easily sip, shop and stay for a while.
